The difference with bathrooms is the products these surfaces come into contact with, shampoos, shower gels, soaps and as horrible as it sounds but body fats, these turn grout and the silicone seals orange and black. Bathrooms also have one other significant characteristic, they are damp, even with the best extraction they are damper than any other room.
Due to this moisture and the products used in a bathroom, in time the walls and flooring get grubby, seals around baths, shower trays etc. start to go black and even fail causing major damage through leaking, grout becomes discoloured, and the wall coverings themselves can become permanently discoloured if not dealt with correctly.
